Student blogging challenge starts in September

Posted by Miss W. on August 12, 2010

Remember part of your grade 6 or grade 10 checklist includes:

  • Cite all sources used when presenting research.
  • Contribute ideas to online networks and reflect on the contribution of others.
  • Plan and create digital products with logical sequences and content for specific audiences.
  •  Contribute to planning for, participating in and evaluating class-to-class online exchange projects.
  • Integrate materials such as images and sound files into digital products.
  • Adhere to copyright regulations when creating and downloading.
  • Identify and consistently follow online etiquette (netiquette).
  • Establish and use an online identity to broaden communication with friends.
  • Use a variety of devices to collect and share ideas and information ethically.

If you take part regularly in the September version of the student blogging challenge, you should be able to be assessed for those particular criteria on your checklist.

To join the challenge, fill in the registration form at this website. Then put a link to the challenge website on your blog in the ‘Get Help’ section. Every week visit the challenge website to find out what the challenge is for that week. There will often be more than one challenge so you can choose which activity to complete.

Good luck!!

    Hi Miss W.?
How was your summer, or would it be winter because you’re in Australia?!
I would be honored to write a post for the other veteran bloggers to respond to in the challenge!:)
I’m excited to start the blogging challenge, it keeps me on track to write a blog post weekly, which is sometimes hard with my hectic schedule!

    Hi Miss W,

I have signed my class blog up for this challenge but all the titles of the blogs are from someone elses blog with only one of the actual links going to my class blog which is http://room1ops2010.blogspot.com/
The other posts are from http://super7scoopers.edublogs.org/
Can you please fix this for me?

    Thanks,
    Catriona

      Kia Ora Catriona,
I just checked the challenge blog and the classes page – all the post relate to your blog with three posts about magnetism. You might need to empty your computer’s cache history as it might still be remembering the original time it went to that page. At that stage, the links weren’t working properly, but they are now.

  3.   Catriona Chrystall Says:

    Hi Sue,
I tried that and I am still getting the wrong titles and only the top one links to my class blog. This is what I see on the Sept. 2010 Classes page:

    Catriona Chrystall
    New Zealand
    Age Range(s): 5-8
    Latest Posts:
Balloon Dogs and Songs! – August 22, 2010
    The Ariki Cup… – August 21, 2010
    Well Done Caitlin!!! – August 18, 2010

Balloon Dogs and Songs! links to my latest blog but The Ariki Cup and Well Done Caitlin link to another classes blog.

    Please help.
