Friendship and Cars

Posted by Miss W. on August 23, 2010

This last three weeks, we have been looking at friendship as our skill for life. In particular, we have watched the movie “Cars” to see how Lightning McQueen has developed his friendship skills. In the first part of the movie, he was a very popular racing car.

What are the differences between popularity and friendship?

While being forced to stay at Radiator Springs, Lightning learnt much about friendship.

How did he change during this period and what did he learn specifically about friendship?

How did knowing Mater, Sally and Doc help Lightning develop into a better friend?

List five characteristics that you value in a friend. Write a description of one of your best friends – not necessarily a student but could be an adult in your life.

My students and I love to view and discuss movies in the classroom. Our school year will only begin late next week, but in years past we’ve thought about heroism while studying Star Wars and our personal hopes and dreams in connection with the Wizard of Oz.
Today I’m taking a quick peak at all the “Challenge” blogs but I’ll certainly be back for a longer visit in a few days.

I love the movie Cars because Mater is really funny and I think the friendship project is great I am in Mr. Millers class room.

I really like how you pointed out that he learned about friendship. I never thought of it that way. I hope I will read your blog again.
