Global challenges
Posted by Miss W. on March 20, 2011
Many of you have already taken part in a global challenge this year with World Maths and Spelling Days. But over the next week, there are two other global challenges you might like to take part in.
World Water Day – this is held on Tuesday 22 March 2011
The theme is ‘Water for Cities’ – looking at how urban areas effectively use water.
Most of the world’s population now live in cities. In many countries there are slum areas on the fringes of big urban cities. How do they get and use water?
How much water do you and your family use every day?
Maybe write a post about the use of water in your household. Think about showers, washing, dishwashing, drinking, gardening, car washing etc.
Earth Hour – Saturday, 26 March at 8.30pm beginning with one minute silence for those people suffering in Japan at the moment. Click on the link to visit their website. You might want to sign up as a family. Remember to get a logo tile to add to the widgets in your blog or to put in a post like I have.
Did you check the footprint calculator? It takes 2.6 earths if everyone lived like me.

Hi Mrs. W! It’s Rachael from Pam’s class.
I tried out the footprint test and if everyone lived like me, there would have to be 2.3 earths!
I am also planning to do the Earth Hour with my family.
