Grade 10 ICT checklist

Below are the skills you have to be assessed on over this year. These skills can be shown in any subject which uses technology, not just ICT lessons.  How many of these are you going to be able to say you are competent in by the end of the year?

  1. Use the internet as a research tool, routinely seeking information from a variety of websites.
  2. Cite references consistenty following agreed conventions.
  3. Validate the credibility of information sources.
  4. Modify strategies and solve complex problems when playing interactive educational games.
  5. Participate in an online community such as a forum as an inquiry strategy.
  6. Demonstrate effective use of a simulation tool and discuss its application to ‘real-world’ contexts.
  7. Create digital products that inform, entertain, influence or persuade.
  8. Determine quality design specifications for an ICT product and follow the specifications to create a product.
  9. Use advanced editing functions to refine a digital product for desired effects.
  10. Collect, analyse, represent, organise and manage data with digital tools.
  11. Create digital products that illustrate a broad use of conventions appropriate to text type.
  12. Demonstrate understanding of intellectual property and copyright laws.
  13. Identify appropriate codes of conduct for ICT communications.
  14. Outline the forms that cyber crime can take and describe how to avoid being a victim.
  15. Establish and maintain online identities to broaden social, intellectual and extra-curricular networks.
  16. Contribute to the learning of others and learn from others in online exchange projects.
  17. Enhance group work by using a range of collaborative software.
  18. Demonstrate awareness of the latest technology news and emerging devices.
  19. Demonstrate understanding of network security risks, protection and prevention strategies.
  20. Apply problem solving and troubleshooting progressions for the efficient operation of tools.
  21. Identify occupational health and safety concerns and solutions for ICT environments.
  22. Maintain files in a clear logical structure demonstrating understanding of file size, type and naming conventions.
  23. Understand the field of ICT sufficiently to be an effective consumer of ICT goods and services.
  24. Demonstrate understanding of basic network concepts.
